1861 - St. Thomas' predecessor, St. Michael's College, opens.

1910 - St. Michael's College changes its name and becomes St. Michael's College.

1919 - The original St. Thomas building is completely destroyed by fire on the evening of March 13, 1919. After the fire, classes were held at various locations around Chatham. Fund raising begins to rebuild the College.

1920 - St. Thomas College is rebuilt and reopened after the fire of 1919. Photo 1, Photo 2

1934 - St. Thomas becomes an accredited university, with the power to grant degrees.

Late-1940s - late-1950s - Construction of the gymnasium (left side of photo). Quonset huts used as classrooms for the high school.

1955 - A new rink, the Lord Beaverbrook Arena, is officially opened. This facility was a gift of the late Max Aitken (Lord Beaverbrook) of Newcastle. Photo 1, Photo 2.
